John Adams is an acoustic and electric bassist, and is one of the Southwest's most versatile and in-demand musicians. He holds Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from the University of North Texas, including membership in the 1 O'clock Lab Band. He was also UNT’s jazz bass instructor for ten years. Adams is active as a studio musician, producer, arranger, composer, music contractor, and workshop clinician. He has backed and/or recorded for a wide array of artists including Mel Torme, Rosemary Clooney, Phil Driscoll, Wayne Watson, Woody Herman, Randy Brecker, Marvin Stamm, Joe McBride, Bobby Lyle, Carl Fontana, Chet Baker, Clark Terry, Dave Liebman, and others. His broad musical background has also included symphonic and pit/show work. Johnny Case had become a pianist playing country swing in various dance bands until mid 1966, when a jazz trio gig gave him his first opportunity to publicly perform the music that had inspired him to become a pianist. In 1969, Johnny Case began to issue his own recordings of modern jazz and related genres. Johnny Case has played club dates and concerts with such name jazz artists as James Clay, Billy Hart, Dewey Redman, Colin Bailey, Marchel Ivery, David Newman and Randy Brecker. He performed a reception for Ornette Coleman at the opening of Fort Worth’s best-known jazz venue, the Caravan of Dreams. Most remarkable is his 28-year stint as house pianist at Sardines Italian restaurant where he provided live jazz six nights a week. Johnny Case has been inducted into three halls of fame related to Texas music. Jonathan Fisher has been an in demand North Texas bassist and teacher for over 22 years. Graduating from the University of North Texas Jazz Studies program in 1999, he had the opportunity to study with Lynn Seaton and Jeff Bradetich. After college, he travelled to Paris, France for lessons with bass virtuoso and pedagogue Francois Rabbath. Jonathan has been in bands with local jazz legends Marchel Ivory, Shelley Carrol, Dave Zoller and Roger Boykin, and has shared the stage with Winton Marsalis and Bernadette Peters among others. Jonathan is passionate about the double bass, considering himself an explorer of the instrument’s vast possibilities. He is also dedicated to passing on the jazz tradition to the next generation of musicians through performance and teaching. Jonathan is enamored with Texas jazz music and history, seeking out music by Texas jazz musicians to promote and perform. Puerto Rico native Jorge Ginorio is a professional percussionist, educator, clinician, and band leader who specializes in traditional and contemporary applications of the instruments, rhythms, and styles from Africa, the Caribbean, and the Americas. Jorge is a graduate of the prestigious University of North Texas in Denton, Texas, and Escuela Nacional de Arte in Havana, Cuba. Jorge professional career has been highlighted by performances, tours, and recording sessions with an extensive list of diverse artists, including Alex Acuña, Tom Braxton, Ignacio Berroa, Brave Combo, Cindy Cruse-Ratcliff, Aretha Franklin, Carlos Guedes, Mark Harper, Israel Houghton, Airto Moreira, Andy Narell, One O'Clock Lab Band, Pan Ramajay, Rob Rose, Pieces of a Dream, Dave Samuels, Poncho Sánchez, Lou Marini, Michael Spiro, Najee, Fletch Wiley, Charlie Zaa, among others. As an educator/clinician, Jorge is extremely active conducting lessons, clinics and workshops. He has presented at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention, Texas Music Educators Association Convention, as well as in universities, colleges, and cultural centers. Currently, Jorge is integral part of the Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas area musical scene where he performs, records, and teaches. Jorge Ginorio proudly endorses: Latin Percussion, Remo Drumheads, Sabian Cymbals, and Vic Firth drumsticks and mallets. Joseph Carpenter has been an instructor and freelance musician in DFW since 1998. He has a bachelor’s from Texas Wesleyan University and a master’s from The University of Texas at Arlington. He has participated in orchestras, big bands, cover bands, and various original projects in the rock, heavy metal, jazz, and country genres. He has many times been recognized in Fort Worth Weekly’s Music Awards for the categories of Best Drummer, Best Jazz Ensemble, Best Album, and Best Live Band. He has an international presence as both a performer and jazz clinician. Joshua Boyd started playing guitar at 20 and relates to Wes Montgomery as a huge influence because of his late start as well. Josh learned how to read music on his own, and played for RCC's top big band (jazz) as well as their classical guitar ensemble and marching band for hire. He has played with artists such as Mali Music, Travis Garland, Myron Butler, Kiki Sheared, Alex Isley, Eric Roberson, Syleena Johnson and various other artists. Boyd’s favorite style to play is jazz despite his proficiency in others. As an award-winning saxophonist, flutist and vocalist from Dallas, TX, Joyce covers the gamut of musical influence, style and genre from traditional to contemporary jazz and classical to R&B, funk, fusion, blues, pop, and Gospel/Christian. The mixing and blending of musical styles in her upbringing is definitely her forte and an asset to writing music and entertainment. Whether it's upbeat music or sultry smooth jazz or ballads, Joyce provides sensational musical entertainment on saxophone (soprano, alto, and tenor), flute and vocals that caters to the fans or venue. Julie Bonk is one of those rare musicians who expresses from deep within her soul, giving unique life and color to everything she plays. She graduated from Interlochen Arts Academy where she developed her love for Jazz and Blues. Her studies continued at UNT where she received her Bachelor of Music Degree in Jazz Performance. Currently living in Texas, Ms. Bonk is a well-respected and accomplished piano teacher in Jazz and Blues improvisation, composition, music theory, performance techniques and vocal styling. Some of her better-known students have included Grammy Award Winner Norah Jones, Scott Hoying from Pentatonix (The Sing Off Winner) Matt Johnson, Claire Fowler EMI Records and Amy Abbott Owsley (American Chills). Julie remains in high demand for performing. The CD 'Different Shades of Blue' features songs closest to her heart as well as some examples of her soulful originals. Saxophonist Justin Pierce began his musical career in the musically diverse region of the Texas-Louisiana Gulf Coast. After beginning saxophone studies at age 12, he developed a passion for music in the middle school jazz ensemble. Since that time, he has performed across the United States and internationally, earned degrees in both classical and jazz styles, and taught at the secondary and college levels. Justin earned a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Saxophone Performance at the University of North Texas, where he also earned a Master of Music in Jazz Studies. While at UNT, he served as lead alto saxophonist in the One O'Clock and Two O'Clock Lab Bands. As a freelance woodwind performer, Justin has performed with The Glenn Miller Orchestra, Arturo Sandoval, Randy Brecker, Doc Severinsen, The Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, The Temptations, The O'Jays, and Wayne Newton. North Texas jazz fans know saxophonist Karl Lampman as a member of Clave and for gigs with artists such as Julie Bonk and Drew Phelps. Karl has recorded with Tom “Wolf” Morrell & The Time-Warp Tophands and UNT’s famed One O’Clock Lab Band. A native of Washington state, he has taught at Eastfield College, where he was a member of the Eastfield College Faculty Jazz Quintet led by Dr. Oscar Passley.
Her educational background includes a bachelor's degree in instrumental music education where she also studied saxophone and flute, classical and jazz, theater, and radio and TV broadcasting. She also participated in the college choir, stage plays, and musicals. After a brief period with the Acadiana Symphony Orchestra on flute, Joyce moved from Louisiana to Texas where her career shifted to corporate America; however, she returned with sheer determination over seven years ago with her first album, "Sweet Dreams", and has since released several more projects, including the latest jazz album. "Many Colors", “It's Christmas Time" and other singles releases like “Cherish” and "Sax-O-Phunk".
She has graced the stage of many music festivals, concert venues, and corporate shows in the United States, but radio stations all over the world are playing her music. Radio stations have honored her with awards and special recognitions such as the GHP Radio Music Award, Sound Fusion Radio Song of the Week, Ssassy Radio Top 20, etc. along with several special features with radio stations like The Jazz Oasis, Coffee Talk Jazz, Jazzy100 and Amazing Smooth and Jazz Radio.
In addition, David McLorren featured Joyce as the lead soloist in two tracks on his Grammy consideration album, “Life Happens”. Other notable awards and nominations are the Black Women in Jazz Female Saxophonist of the Year, GHP Radio Virtual Music Award for Best Groove Featuring Sax, NAACP Music Award (Garland), Coffee Talk Jazz Radio "Heart & Soul Instrumental" Award, ASCAPLUS Awards Panel Recognition and the Akedemia Award for best funk song (Many Colors). South Florida Gospel Music Awards, Best Female Jazz Flutist and Best Producer/Arranger/Composer by Black Women in Jazz and Fine Arts also nominated her Best Female Artist.
When Joyce is not performing, she is hard at work on her next project, collaborating with other independent artists or co-hosting on GHP Radio, "The Indie Live Spot".
